It's been just over two months since the light rail finally came into the everyday lives of Canberrans, but have you planned a night (or day) around it yet?

Travelling from Gungahlin to the city, the light rail stops off at a few of Canberra's foodie hot spots meaning there are plenty of chances to hop off the light rail and hop into a cafe or bar for a quick beverage.
Gungahlin
If you're looking for a morning coffee or maybe a spot of breakfast before jumping on the light rail, there are plenty of cafes around the Gungahlin stop, including G Tree Cafe, Early Doors Cafe and This Cafe. But if you don't mind a short walk - and are ready to give the dessert stomach an early morning work out - Le Bon Melange on Bruning Street is the place to be for French pastries and a glorious croque monsieur.
Of course, not all the fun is fit for first thing in the morning. For something a little bit stiffer than caffeine, head out to the Cornerstone Pub or Raiders Gungahlin for a cold one. To keep the party going stop in for a quick one at Siren Bar or Young and Frisky just before boarding the light rail (and maybe grab some chicken wings while you're at it).
Dickson
Now, we're not going to lie - there's going to be a (relatively) long time between drinks as you continue on this journey through the light rail drinks trail. Let's face it, there's not a lot between Gungahlin and Dickson drink wise. But - as a consolation prize for having to wait - there is a lot waiting for you when you get to Dickson.
Coffee-wise you have Highroad serving up some ONA brew, or if you want to get creative Folks Gallery gives you the chance to paint a masterpiece while getting your caffeine hit. There's plenty of other cafes on offer as well including Good Brother, Trevs @ Dickson, Sfolia Patisserie and Cafe, and Laneway Espresso.
Canberra Wine House, Ducks Nuts and Dickson Tradies are all on hand if you want something stronger, plus if you want to sing your way into the weekend after a long week at work, Soundbox Karaoke and Bar can help you with that as well.
Braddon
Hopping off the light rail at the Elouera Street stop you are just a stone's throw away from Braddon's hospitality haven, meaning the options are (almost) endless.
You just need to walk down Lonsdale Street to stumble upon a coffee, with Elk and Pea, RYE Cafe, Toasted and, of course, Lonsdale Street Roasters, just the beginning of the list of places to get a decent brew. If you still can't find something to take your fancy caffeine-wise Mort Street has a couple of cafes on offer including The Italian Place and Gather, or if you're looking for a vegan option, Sweet Bones on Elouera Street is a good choice.
Braddon is also home to plenty of bars, so if you're turning this light rail journey into a late night pub crawl BentSpoke Brewing, Hopscotch, Tipsy Bull and Debacle are just some of the places that you can stop at, plus there is always Lonsdale Street's newest addition Assembly to try out.
City
The way we see it, if you are still on an adults-only light rail trail, you can head in two directions once getting off the light rail.
If you head towards Moore Street you have the likes of Bar Rochford, Molly, The Highball Express and Treehouse Bar to choose from. If you want a little more 80s in your life then 88mph is perfect, and, let's be honest, if you've been drinking since Gungahlin there is a good chance you will end up Mooseheads.
In the other direction, heading towards the Canberra Centre, you've got King O'Malley's, Shorty's, Honkytonks, Hippo Co and Kokomo's all on offer.
When it comes to coffee spots, it might be worth taking note of what's around the city light rail stop for both the coffee trail and pub crawl - if you end up spending the night in the city somewhere, you're going to want a coffee before jumping on the light rail home.
Superfine and Harvest are both a short walk from the light rail, as is Smith's Alternative which is a good option if you want to catch some live music. There's also plenty of other cafes further afield including The Cupping Room and Two Before Ten.
