1. May the 4th be with you

It's not quite the Death Star but don't you think the National Carillon is Star Wars-esque? Maybe we can pitch the Canberra tower as a potential film location for one of the upcoming films. For now though, it's the perfect location for a Star Wars-themed concert. Hear scores from the films echo over Lake Burley Griffin, played from the 50-metre tower. Bring a picnic blanket, pick up some snacks from the onsite food vendors, and let the Force wash over you. Saturday, 11.30am - 2.30pm. $2.20 for a spot on Aspen Island. Free elsewhere around the lake. Ticket sales go to the Starlight Children's Foundation.
2. Find your tribe
Looking to meet more people in Canberra? Or simply looking to expand your hobbies? The Connect and Participate Expo is the place to be. Whether you've just moved to the Capital or you're a long-time resident, the community event can hook you up with a range of groups and clubs. From sport and recreation groups to art, craft and cultural groups, the expo has them all at one time, at one place. Former Transport Depot Building, Saturday, 11am - 4pm. Free.
3. Vote #1 for laughter
Who will be the Liberal leader this week? Will Labor trip at the last minute, squandering its lead in the polls? Are these the sorts of questions have made for a suspenseful federal election? Join The Chaser's Charles Firth and The Shovel's James Schloeffel as they bring The War on the F***ing Election to the capital. Topics covered on the night will include how "female" is the Liberal Party and how it all falls apart: Labor's plan for the first 100 days. Canberra Theatre Centre. Saturday, 8pm. From $25.

4. #SquashGoals
These pumpkins may not turn into carriages to take you to a ball, but they're still pretty impressive. Just imagine how much pumpkin soup you can make out of a 271-kilogram pumpkin. That's how large the winning pumpkin was at last year's Collector Village Pumpkin Festival. And if giant vegetables aren't enough to entice you, this event - filled to the brim with country charm - will also have market stalls, free kids' activities, wheelbarrow races and live music. Bourke Street, Collector. Sunday, 10am - 4pm. Entry is cash only and is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids under 15 are free.
5. Beat the Sunday blues
Had a good weekend but finding it hard to beat the Sunday night blues? What better way to lift the weight of the impending working week than have a chuckle? Or, even better, making others giggle? Smith's Alternative hosts its monthly open-mic comedy night on Sunday. Open to everyone, you can either come along to see local comics take to the stage, or you can come up with your own five-minute set and crack the audience up yourself. Sunday, 7pm (or 6.30pm if you want to perform). Free.
