A man entered the service station about 3.30am armed with a large screwdriver and threatened an employee while demanding cash.
The employee handed over a sum of money but then locked the doors to the store, stopping the man from leaving.
Following this, a dark green Mazda 121 smashed into the front doors of the store, breaking them open and allowing the man to get into the car and escape.
The Mazda had been stolen earlier in the night from an apartment complex in Lyons.
The incident was reported at 3.30am on Wednesday morning and police have cordoned off the area.
ACT Policing are asking anyone with information about the armed robbery or who witnessed suspicious activity to come forward.
