Taylor Lewis Schmidt, of Turner, appeared briefly in the Queanbeyan Local Court this afternoon when ACT police applied for his extradition to the territory.
The warrant alleged that he murdered Mr Zhao.
Schmidt's defence lawyer argued before the court that the warrant was invalid, because it was signed by a deputy registrar, not a magistrate. However, the court ruled the warrant was in valid and ordered his extradition.
He is expected to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
