Passengers flying in and out of Canberra Airport have faced delays of up to an hour as local Qantas staff joined nationwide strikes.

More than 70 local baggage and ground staff officially walked off the job at 3.30pm for a four-hour stoppage, though the majority had been locked out by Qantas management since 1.30pm.
Qantas head office reported nine flights into or out of Canberra would be affected; six were delayed and three others cancelled altogether.
The flights that were cancelled included two flying out of Canberra to Sydney and Melbourne, as well as one flying into Canberra from Melbourne.
Transport Workers Union ACT sub-branch official Ben Sweaney said meetings had been held with all 70 workers for the majority of the afternoon.
