Police stopped a Holden Rodeo ute for a random breath test about 12.01am.
The driver, who is from Latham, was taken back to Belconnen Police Station and recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.065. The man is subject to a zero limit.
Police released the man, and told him he would be summonsed to court.
But, about an hour-and-a-half later, a mobile police patrol saw the same Holden Rodeo ute driving along Bowman Street in Maquarie.
Sirens were activated and police tried to pull the 22-year-old man over.
But the Rodeo accelerated away, leading police on a pursuit through Catchpole Street Macquarie and ending in O'Loghlen Street in Latham. The Rodeo is alleged to have reached speeds of up to 120km/h.
The man then pulled into the driveway of his own home and ran inside, where he was found by police.
They again arrested him and took him back to Belconnen Police Station, where he recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.039.
He was charged with being an unlicensed driver, drink driving, dangerous driving, and failing to stop.
He is expected to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on September 16.
