The association's ACT general manager Gwyn Rees said the popular flower show, the largest in the southern hemisphere, would benefit greatly from royal patronage.
Mr Rees suggested renaming the event ''Floriade - Canberra Royal Spring Festival''.
''This is something that can happen as a result of a visit, if it can be done it is worth exploring,'' he said.
''It would increase the profile of the Floriade internationally. This is a real opportunity.''
Mr Rees phoned the office of Tourism Minister Andrew Barr on Tuesday to discuss opportunities that may arise from the Queen's visit.
But a spokeswoman for Mr Barr said there were no plans to push for a name change in honour of the Queen.
''This suggestion has not been put to the ACT Government formally, but all of our market research suggests that the Floriade brand as it stands has wide recognition and it is unlikely we would want to change that,'' she said.
''Floriade has a strong positioning in the market place under the tagline Floriade, Australia's Celebration of Spring.''
She said international media coverage of the Queen's visit would give Floriade a huge boost for many years.
''We have a team working closely with the Commonwealth Government and the Palace on all of the arrangements for the Floriade visit. The Floriade team is obviously excited to be hosting the royal visit, giving our city an opportunity to show off this great event.''
