The woman arrived at her Chifley home yesterday morning to find a man carrying her television set down her driveway.
When she confronted the man, he dropped the television set and ran into the backyard before returning carrying a bag that also belonged to the woman.
The woman grabbed the bag back, tussling with the offender as he got in the passenger side of a silver vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The offender eventually released the bag and was driven off in the car.
Police confirmed that they are seeking two persons of interest in relation to the incident.
While the woman's actions were hailed as courageous by police, they have also warned against confronting offenders in these sort of situations.
"The view of police is that property can be replaced, but people can't," Sergeant John Giles of the Crime Targeting Team said.
"In this case, our victim acted on impulse and her actions did have a positive outcome. But we would prefer that in such situations, victims should avoid confrontation, immediately contact police on 131-444, or 000 in an emergency, and remember as much detail of the offenders and their vehicle as possible."
Tuggeranong burglary
In an unrelated incident, four juveniles from the Tuggeranong area have been apprehended by police for an aggravated burglary at the Urambi Primary School in the early hours of this morning.
Two 16-year-old boys, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl were chased by police on foot after being seen running from the school around 1am.
Police noted a substantial amount of property damage with five windows smashed and further damage inside the premises.
All four juveniles have been released into the custody of their parents, and will appear before the ACT Childrens Court at a later date.
