A man was taking cash out of an ATM at the Collie Street bank about 12.40am, when a white car pulled up behind his own parked vehicle.
A woman got out of the car and allegedly walked up to the man, brandishing a knife and threatening him. Police say at one point, the woman held the knife to the man's neck.
The victim tried to fight off his attacker, and suffered cuts to his hands and cheek.
Another man walked up to the victim and punched him in the face, ending the scuffle.
The man and woman demanded he withdraw more money from the ATM, police say.
Several unsuccessful attempts were made to withdraw cash, but the machine eventually rejected the victim's card.
The offenders then allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim before fleeing.
