Kitchen sustained fire and smoke damage with adjacent businesses sustaining minor smoke damage which was mitigated by early ventilation by firefighters.
Some adjacent apartments sustained minor smoke damage, although the Coventry apartments above the restaurant were not affected.
After the kitchen fire was extinguished, fire crews checked to ensure the fire did not spread into the roof space of the building via a ventilation shaft.
The Coventry apartment complex and surrounding businesses were evacuated while the investigation took place.
Crews also conducted air monitoring and ventilated adjacent premises.
By 2.45pm, firefighters were allowing some tenants to return to their buildings.
