Qantas and the Transport Workers Union both had to lodge their draft agreements with Fair Work Australia in Sydney by 5pm yesterday. The submissions, which include clauses sought by both sides in the new enterprise bargaining agreements, will inform FWA's final decision as the parties head into binding arbitration.
TWU national secretary Tony Sheldon said the draft agreement pushes for a consensus on central issues such as greater job security.
The TWU and Qantas are also set to file witness statements and expert evidence to the umpire in February, with the matter expected to be heard in March.
