At about 12.50am a police patrol spotted a red Mazda 121 sedan in Majura that matched an alert issued by NSW Police after an attempted robbery at a service station in Sutton.
When police attempted a traffic stop on the car, the driver sped away, beginning a pursuit along the Monaro Highway and through Queanbeyan via Lanyon Drive, reaching speeds of 140km/h and lasting a total of 13 minutes.
Police used road spikes to pop the fleeing car's tyres at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Canberra Avenue, ending the pursuit.
Further checks revealed the car had been reported stolen from a burglary in Red Hill on Tuesday. Police also discovered a large kitchen knife on the front passenger seat.
The 35-year-old driver was arrested on numerous property offences as a result of collaboration between ACT and NSW police.
