The latest figures from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations estimates the unemployment rates for approximately 1400 areas across Australia.
Yarralumla had the lowest unemployment rate in the territory for the September quarter, at just 1.8 per cent. Deakin, at 1.9 per cent, had the second lowest of those suburbs where the labour force was large enough for the department to be confident of the result.
The highest unemployment rate, of 11.6 per cent, is in Symonston, although the suburb's small size means this result should be treated with caution.
For those larger labour forces, Turner had the highest unemployment rate, at 7.5 per cent. Braddon, Campbell, Dickson, Downer, O'Connor, Ainslie, Hacket, Lyneham and Watson each had unemployment rates of 4.8 per cent or higher.

The department notes that the results for Acton, Barton, Civic, Forrest, Fyshwick, Greenway, Hall, Harman, Harrison, Kowen, Majura, Oaks Estate, O'Malley, Pialligo, Reid, Stromlo and Symonston should be interpreted with care because of the small size of their labour forces.
