Canberra Raiders boss Don Furner says Sam Burgess' comments were "galling" and is convinced they played a part in the severity of Hudson Young's ban.

Young is facing a seven-week ban after being charged by the NRL match review committee for an alleged eye gouge. If that wasn't bad enough, the Raiders will also lose Corey Horsburgh for up the three weeks after he suffered a fractured elbow.
It's a massive double blow following their gutsy 12-10 victory over the Canterbury Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
Young was charged with grade three dangerous contact to the head/neck (eye contact) on Bulldogs prop Aiden Tolman.
The incident occured in the 34th minute and Tolman was seen remonstrating with the Raiders immediately afterwards.
But Young wasn't looking at Tolman when his hand made contact with the prop's face, which appeared to be incidental.
Burgess said: "It doesn't look great. I think we're a victim of the game.
"The players are wanting to assert themselves and be aggressive but it's hard to do and they end up resorting to silly things like that. There's nothing in it. It's just silly.
"If I'm honest, he did the same to me. Not in my eye, he put his knuckle in my face."
The charge carries 500 base points, but due to a suspension last season Young has a 50 per cent loading on top of that.
It means if he fights the charge and loses he faces seven weeks on the sidelines, but only five with an early guilty plea.
Furner was scathing of Burgess' post-match comments.
"It's a lot, it's a big charge, but we'll review it and make a decision in the next 24-48 hours. It's a big blow for him, he's been playing really well," Furner said.
"I find it a bit galling that big name people can get on the TV and put the boot into him and I'm sure that doesn't help. Yet he can give away five penalties in a row and somehow escape sin-binning."
MORE RAIDERS NEWS
NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler was blown away by the severity of the charge and simply summed it up with: "Seriously? Seriously? Seven weeks?" on Channel Nine's The Sunday Footy Show.
North Queensland Cowboys lock Josh McGuire was fined $3350 dollars for an eye gouge on Queensland star Cameron Munster in the round five clash against the Melbourne Storm.
McGuire escaped a ban because Munster refused to make an official complaint to the on-field referees.
The Raiders have until Monday 12pm to decide whether to contest the charge, but were leaning towards accepting the ban.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart will be hoping his three State of Origin players get through Wednesday night unscathed and able to play the Wests Tigers at Parramatta Stadium on Friday.
Horsburgh was wearing an elbow brace in the sheds, but scans cleared him of needing surgery on Sunday.
The timing couldn't be worse for the Raiders, who already have Jordan Rapana (knee), Joey Leilua (neck) and Josh Hodgson (thumb) out injured.
