Samisoni Baikeitoga, 24, was charged over the alleged incident that occurred in April last year after a night at several Civic bars and nightclubs.
Mr Baikeitoga has pleaded not guilty but does not deny having sex with the woman, however he claimed it was consensual.
During opening addresses, prosecutor Katie McCann told the jury the case was about a woman who was taken advantage of by a man she did not know.
In a recorded interview with police, viewed by the jury, the woman said she had no memory of the later part of the night.
She recalled being in Mooseheads nightclub and then the next thing she said she could remember was waking up in her bed with a man on top of her.
"When I woke up there was already somebody having their way," she said.
It was later determined the man was Mr Baikeitoga, with his DNA matching a sample taken from the woman in a medical examination.
The alleged victim said she asked him to stop, but he allegedly continued until she had asked several more times and attempted to push him off her.
She said he then got up, dressed and left the room.
The jury heard evidence the woman had been drinking with fellow cadets on the night of the alleged rape at a bar at the Duntroon campus.
She later travelled with the group into Civic and went to Kokomo's, Highball Express and later Mooseheads.
The jury viewed hours of CCTV footage from Mooseheads in which the alleged victim can be seen dancing with friends.
A group of Fijian cadets, including Mr Baikeitoga, who were in Canberra to train at Duntroon could also be seen at the nightclub.
At one point in the footage the woman and Mr Baikeitoga appear to embrace.
Mr Baikeitoga's defence barrister Steven Whybrow said the issue of consent would be crucial in the case, as would his client's level of intoxication on the night in question.
"Just because somebody has been drinking does not mean they cannot give consent to sexual intercourse," Mr Whybrow said.
The trial continues.
