ACT police say a dark-coloured Toyota Rav4 was driven into the front of the Ngunnawal IGA about 3.30am on Monday.
A short time later, a similar car was used to ram-raid the Charnwood newsagency.
An ACT police spokesman said the car believed to be used in both incidents was later found burnt out near Owen Dixon Drive in Spence.
Peter Neou, the owner of the Ngunnawal IGA, said the outside of the shop was significantly damaged.
"They took out the whole outside roller door and part of the outside roof caved in," Mr Neou said.
"They ended up taking about 10 bottles of vodka.
"We were fairly shocked when we found out, we're just a small, family-run business."
Mr Neou said he had been operating the store for more than eight years and the overnight incident was the first time the IGA had been vandalised.
"It was a big time setback. However, there was no structural damage to the store itself," he said.
The owner of the Charnwood newsagent, Steve Dowling, said there was a large amount of damage at the store, but nothing was stolen.
"There was significant damage, and we're recovering as best as we can," Mr Dowling said.
"They had three goes trying to get in, but we were fortunate enough to have security screens on the front."
Mr Dowling said despite the damage, the business was open as usual on Monday morning.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the overnight incident or anyone who has dashcam footage of the car to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
