The 2GB breakfast presenter will be simulcast from Sydney on 2CC from 5.30am to 9am from July 15, the station announced.
The shake-up has seen current breakfast host Tim Shaw move to the drive shift between 3pm and 6pm.
Mr Shaw announced his move to the new timeslot on Twitter on Thursday.
"Delighted to let you know I am hosting the Tim Shaw Drive Show local and live from Canberra... from July 15, the only commercial talk drive program from the nations [sic] capital," he said.
2CC had been broadcasting Alan Jones from 11am to midday on the station.
The Sydney breakfast presenter said he was looking forward to the change.
"Looking forward to being with you at breakfast time in Canberra from July 15," he said.
"We'll be rattling a few cages."
2CC general manager Michael Jones said Canberra audiences would benefit from the breakfast overhaul.
"Alan Jones on 2CC breakfast is a huge win for Canberra and demonstrates our commitment to keeping Canberrans abreast of the issues that matter to them most," Mr Jones said.
The news comes as the 2GB host signed a new contract with the station for two years for a reported $8 million.
However, the news of Jones taking over the breakfast shift was not welcomed by everyone, with ABC Canberra newsreader Julian Abbott expressing his disappointment on social media.
"What a sad day for a once great commercial station to have just one local program," he said.
