Present Ricky is only worried about getting his current halves ready to face St George Illawarra at Wollongong on Sunday.
That's why Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart sat down with both incumbent halfback Aidan Sezer and current understudy Sam Williams on Thursday to let them know exactly where they stood.
The Raiders finally announced on Tuesday George Williams was joining the Green Machine on a three-year deal from Wigan next season.
Sezer's contracted until the end of 2020, but could opt to look elsewhere, while Williams is off contract at the end of the year and the Raiders are hopeful of re-signing him.
Origin star Jack Wighton has made a stunning switch to five-eighth this season, potentially leaving three halves fighting over the No.7 jersey.
But Stuart wasn't worried about that now.
"We've got to get through this year first," he said.
"I'll just let [George Williams] continue his good form at Wigan and let him play his representative football at the end of the year and we'll worry about all that next year.
"We've got a job on our hands this year and Sammy and Aidan are fighting for their spot there at the moment.
"Aidan's got the jump on him this week. I've only just finished a meeting with both boys and they know exactly where they both stand.
"They're both very important to the squad."
Stuart spoke to George Williams after his signing was announced.
While he's played most of his football for Wigan and England at five-eighth, Stuart said he could also play at halfback.
Williams has scored 11 tries in the English Super League this season, set up another 14 and had 32 offloads.
He's also played nine Tests for England, further bolstering the Raiders' ranks with another international.
"He's a wonderful player who's in very good form at the moment in England for his club Wigan," Stuart said.
"Again, another international and he will be a great addition to the squad."
Stuart was looking forward to the return of centre Nick Cotric, who will return from an ankle injury against the Dragons.
He'll slot alongside right wing Jordan Rapana as the Raiders start to get back to full strength.
Only Joey Leilua (neck) and Hudson Young (suspended) are currently unavailable as they look to hold on to their spot in the top four.
"It does strengthen it up. He'll have his final test [Thursday]," Stuart said.
"I'm sure he'll play, but we'll give him another today to make sure he's 100 per cent ready to go.
"Again having a player of his quality coming back from injury is always a bonus."
