Robert Glen Sirl, 48, is standing trial in the ACT Supreme Court for the alleged rape of the woman and allegedly causing her grievous bodily harm in August last year. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Prosecutor Trent Hickey opened the Crown's case by telling the jury the woman, who cannot be named, was found by paramedics with a pool of blood visible in the crotch of her jeans.
The woman was transported to hospital and required immediate surgery to repair five lacerations inside her vagina.
Doctors reported the injuries were consistent with penetration by a sharp object.
Mr Hickey said the injuries caused to the woman were not in question but it was the jury's role to determine what had happened in the lead up to her getting hurt.
He said the woman, who along with Mr Sirl lived in a long-stay caravan park, had bought herself a new fluffy blanket as it was winter and went to the communal laundry to wash it.
It's alleged she bumped into Mr Sirl in the laundry who offered to sell her marijuana. She reported getting a text message later that night and walking to Mr Sirl's home to buy the drugs.
While in his home, it's alleged Mr Sirl and the woman drank coffee with methamphetamine in it because she had been emotional and he made her the drink to feel better.
While the woman was still there Mr Sirl became convinced a large sum of money had gone missing and he told her she couldn't leave until it was found, Mr Hickey told the jury.
The woman reported Mr Sirl putting in contact lenses that made his eyes glow in the dark.
The woman helped Mr Sirl look for the money and when they were in his bedroom she noticed him opening drawers that contained sex toys.
Mr Sirl then allegedly told the woman "we're going to have some fun first".
It is alleged he then pushed her onto the bed and held her down while he raped her.
Mr Hickey said the woman told Mr Sirl to stop numerous times but he ignored her until he later stopped but then allegedly raped her again, this time with an object.
Eventually the woman was able to leave and she went to the communal showers where she was bleeding heavily.
She called and messaged Mr Sirl asking for help and he allegedly came to the showers and threw her a bath mat to mop up the blood before leaving.
When the bleeding would not stop the woman called an ambulance.
After the incident the woman gave multiple accounts of what had happened, including that she was sexually assaulted by someone she met on the dating app Tinder.
Mr Hickey said the woman reported this was because she was initially scared to give Mr Sirl's name.
The jury heard Mr Sirl claims he had consensual sex with the woman that did not cause her any injuries.
Defence barrister Katrina Musgrove opted not to open the defence case for the trial.
The trial will continue with evidence on Wednesday.
