A teenager armed with a knife demanded money from two people in a Belconnen cafe, police say.

Police said a person went into the cafe about 1.55pm on Monday, and then to a hardware story where he allegedly stole an angle grinder.
They found an 18 year old with the stolen property about 2.40pm and charged him with attempted aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon, aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon, theft and common assault. He is expected to face court on Tuesday.
