Police allege the man used the bat to break into the home in Dunlop around 11.20am on Tuesday.
The man allegedly broke a window with the bat to gain entry to the home, damaging a screen door, before stealing several items from the home.
The 42-year-old was later arrested by police, charged with aggravated burglary.
He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
