Last winter, Paige was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), and her family had to make the difficult decision to relocate from their home to Sydney to be near the hospital for Paige's treatment.
Chemotherapy left Paige exhausted, in pain and often too unwell o leave her hospital bed. This also impacted family life for parents Kate and James and older sister Phoebe.
Before her diagnosis, Paig, with Phoebe, loved holiday time together drinking pineapple juice and playing mermaids in the pool. Since her illness and treatment began, Paige has "dreamt of nothing else".
Paige asked Starlight for a family holiday to the Gold Coast, visiting the theme parks, meeting the mermaids and drinking pineapple juice by the pool. Her wish was granted last week.
Since its first wish in 1989, Starlight has granted more than 11,000 Starlight Wishes for seriously ill children and young people in Australia.
By the end of the year, Starlight will have granted more than 500 wishes across Australia, with nearly 40 per cent of all wishes granted involving travelling to the Gold Coast for a family holiday.
