1. Market made
There's no denying that Canberra is home to pretty creative people and some of those people will be showcasing their items at CBRmade's Etsy Made Local market this weekend. More than 80 small businesses will be selling a range of products including ceramics, jewellery, clothing and sustainable homewares - just in time to start your Christmas shopping. It's also a destination for foodies with plenty of delicious food and beverages available, including Spritz and Co, pictured, In the Cloudz and Kusukusus Crepe and Waffle. Saturday, 9am-4pm. Exhibition Park. Entry by donation.
2. Did someone say Christmas?
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and whether you think it's too early to be talking about the festive season or not, there's a Scandinavian Christmas Bazaar on this weekend. With a Swedish choir, Scandinavian folk dancers, a Scandinavian cafe, and a Christmas market, this is the perfect way to welcome Christmas the European way. The day even includes a Swedish Lucia procession, which is a procession of children in white, full-length gowns with the leader - a young girl representing Lucia - wearing candles in her hair. Sunday, 11am-4pm. Albert Hall, Yarralumla. Entry by donation.
3. Every dog has its day
And that day is this Sunday at The Cupping Room. The Canberra cafe is turning six and they're celebrating the best way they know how - with a dog day out. Every doggo will be treated with a puppacino and Shmacko, and every owner will receive a free coffee so everyone gets a treat! All dogs big and small are welcome but do need to be on a lead. Sunday, 8am-3pm. Free event.
4. I, for one, welcome our new quiz night overlords
They're television's favourite yellow family and also, the key focus the upcoming trivia night at The Durham. What's more, this Simpsons quiz only focuses on the golden years - seasons one to 10. So get your crew together, name your team after Bart Simpson's best friend, and prove once and for all that everything really does come up Milhouse. And if it doesn't go your way? You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is: never try. Saturday, 7pm. Tickets are $11.64 from Eventbrite.
5. Celebrating 30 years
The year was 1989. Bob Hawke was prime minister, the Canberra Raiders were NRL premiers and the Berlin Wall just came down. It was also the year Cold Chisel co-founder Ian Moss stepped out on his own with Matchbook. Moss celebrates 30 years since his solo debut, performing iconic tracks from the record, plus other fan favourites. Friday, 8pm. Canberra Theatre Centre. Tickets from $84.50 from canberratheatrecentre.com.au.
