DESIGN Canberra
The seventh edition of DESIGN Canberra will take place from November 9-29. The 2020 theme is Care and the intention is to create "a collaborative forum for contemporary, experimental and authentic design to celebrate and explore the ways that care and caring is valuable and vital". Tommy cancelled
Canberra Philharmonic Society announced this week its intended next production, of the rock musical Tommy, was cancelled because of the bushfires and the resulting effects, economic and otherwise, that would continue for an unforeseeable period.
Opera by Candlelight

Lifeline Book Fair

A Provisional Landscape

Floor talk
12.30pm: Distorted Trajectories glass artists Marcel Hoogstad Hay and Madeline Prowd will speak about their work at Craft ACT. Also showing is Emerging Contemporaries, showcasing the work of graduates and emerging craft practitioners selected from the ACT and surrounding region.

2pm: This new feature documentary looks at the early Australian entertainment entrepreneurs and the grand buildings they created including two that stood side by side for decades and shared the same name. Lantern Festival
6.15: This free event presented by the Australia China Friendship Society is on at Beijing Garden, Flynn Drive, Yarralumla (behind the Hyatt Hotel). There will be Chinese music, dancing, martial arts, as well as the Lantern Parade along the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. Bring your own lantern, or buy one there. In case of rain or thick smoke haze the festival will be cancelled: see acfs.org.au on the day.
