Both junior and senior rugby league in Canberra has been pushed back until early May at the earliest due to the coronavirus.
The Canberra Raiders Cup was due to start on April 18, which means at least the opening two rounds will need to be either cancelled or rescheduled.
Canberra Region Rugby League general manager Mark Vergano said they would work on a range of contingency plans given there was so much uncertainty surrounding the competition.
It's not just games that have been shut down, but pre-season trials and training as well, as sporting codes look to do their part in containing the spread of the virus.
May 2 is now the earliest possible start date, although that would appear to be unlikely.
Vergano said they would look to create a schedule from the start of May, as well as other possibilities in case the pandemic is still going then.
"In the seniors at the moment it's a two week [delay] and in the juniors it's one week," he said.
"The situation is so fluid we'll be taking the best advice and monitoring the situation closely prior to that leading into May 1.
"We'll have a look at what dates we'll have available to us where we can make up. We'll probably have two or three scenario draws and work through that with the staff and with the clubs.
"We'll cut our draws to suit whatever the situation we're confronted with.
"At the moment we bump into the spring shutdown with ACT government grounds, but we'd be talking to them to see if there's any flexibility in there."
