In Australia, the number of cases has surpassed 5000, with 91 cases confirmed in the ACT.
It was a big day of announcements yesterday. The federal government said it would fund free childcare for all parents who needed it to keep working during the pandemic, throwing struggling childcare providers a crucial lifeline. It also announced a breakthrough in industrial relations, with all Australian workers to be eligible for pandemic leave and extra leave on half pay.
Meanwhile the ACT government unveiled the second stimulus package, worth $214 million. It included further health funding and other measures to relieve pressure on landlords and tenants.
