ACT Policing said the 29-year-old Macquarie man had been asked to leave a neighbour's residence on Sunday morning because he had made threats to harm the neighbour and damage a vehicle.
"Police will allege the man smashed a light at the residence and assaulted his neighbour a short time later," they said in a statement.
"Police will also allege that during his arrest, the man spat on one of the arresting officers."
The man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon with intent, damaging property and assaulting a frontline community service provider.
