Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has called Wallabies trio White, Folau Fainga'a and Tevita Kuridrani into his starting XV for a Super Rugby AU clash with the Queensland Reds in Brisbane on Saturday.
White has played a starring role off the bench in the Brumbies' past two outings, with the 30-year-old now set to start for the club for the first time since June 27, 2015.
White's return to the starting side pushes Joe Powell out of the match day 23, with young gun Ryan Lonergan deputising off the bench.
"He's earned it. We've been rotating the nines over the past few weeks. We're blessed with four very good halfbacks here but he has earned it through his performance," McKellar said.

"There's no doubt his two cameos off the bench have been excellent and have really lifted the side. He hasn't been perfect, he has brought a whole lot of energy and that competitive edge he has every day of the week.
"He deserves a start this week and we'll see how that looks with Whitey out there from the first minute.
"The change of tempo and speed he brings to the game has been pretty obvious for all to see. It's great to have Whitey back in there with his experience, his kicking game, and what he brings to our attack.
"It's a different look this week. He has come on at 50 minutes over the past two weeks, this week he's on from the first minute.
"His speed to the breakdown, his speed of delivery is excellent, but also that vision to identify space and opportunity is another strength of his. We'll see how it goes from kick off."
Kuridrani's return at outside centre sends Solomone Kata back to the bench, while Fainga'a will start at hooker with Connal McInerney shuffling back onto the pine.
Darcy Swain [lock] and Rob Valetini [flanker] also return to the starting side, with Lachlan McCaffrey and Nick Frost taking their places on the bench. Murray Douglas and Reesjan Pasitoa are out of the 23 having faced the Western Force last week.
