Rainfall records for the month of October at both the Canberra Airport and Tuggeranong weather stations were broken, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
BOM meteorologist Shuang Wang said Canberra Airport recorded 133.6 millimetres of rainfall over October, breaking the 2010 record of 102.8mm.
Down south, at the Tuggeranong station 164.8 millmetres was recorded, the previous October high of 151.6 millimetres was also recorded in 2010.
It came as parts of the nation's capital recorded more than 40 millimetres of rain on Friday and Saturday, as heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Canberra.
The rain eased on Sunday but it remained cloudy.
After the weekend's deluge, Canberra is set for some fine and sunny days but keep the umbrellas nearby as there is a chance of showers towards the end of the week.
"The coming days the weather will be very good and there are some nice conditions in Canberra," Ms Wang said.
"For the first half of the week, from Monday to Wednesday will be sunny conditions and the temperature will gradually increase with light winds."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The temperature could reach up to 28 degrees on Wednesday. A top of 23 degrees is expected on Monday, and 25 degrees on Tuesday.
But Ms Wang said another system would bring a chance of a thunderstorm on Thursday, however, it won't be another big system.
"If something happens it will be just a light chance of falls or showers with a chance of thunderstorm and maybe just less than 5 millimetres [of rainfall]," she said.
