And Tuggeranong Valley's very own Joseph brothers are no exception to some of the greats.
While fierce rivals at home, it would however be a proud moment for both brothers last weekend, as 14-year-old Akshay made his debut alongside 20-year-old Nikesh against Ginninderra.
Nikesh would be the star of the show, the quick took 5 for 49 as Tuggeranong knocked over their rivals for just 166.
However, the elder brother stated it was Akshay's debut wicket that gave him the most joy, which was none other than opposition captain Rhys Healy.
"Personally, I reckon the highlight of the match would have been Akshay's first wicket," Nikesh said.
"Getting the wicket of Rhys Healy, a great batsman, especially your first wicket is something that is pretty cool and definitely my highlight for the match."
Nikesh was also given the honour of presenting Akshay with his top-grade cap, with the game at Chisholm the brothers first competitive game together.
"To be honest no, I didn't expect it [to present the cap]. It felt pretty nice, first time playing alongside each other, it was just a great moment," Nikesh said
Cricket is a family affair in the Joseph household, with the boy's passion for the game extending from parents Jilson and Krisha.
"Dad played growing up and Mum was always a keen fan, so Akshay and I grew up playing cricket especially backyard cricket, there were a lot of fierce contests," Nikesh laughed.
"They were quite competitive and considering he is six-years younger; I never went too easy on him. I was always quite competitive, out first ball and you are out first ball. If the bowling is too fast you have to deal with it."
Akshay added the backyard contests have assisted in his development.
"He always tested me, it was good fun, he never once went easy on me," Akshay said.
The youngest of the brothers has a pretty jam-packed schedule this summer, with each weekend dedicated to cricket, as he also plays for Marist's First XI and in the ACT Junior under 14 competition.
Akshay hopes to go as high as possible in the game he loves, citing Indian skipper Virat Kohli as his hero.

"[I train] four days a week, from Monday to Friday and then Saturday and Sunday I have games. I hope to play high level cricket," Akshay said.
"[It would be a dream] to play first grade cricket in Sydney and go from there."
Tuggeranong will begin their first innings against Ginninderra on Saturday morning, with rain delaying last weekend's fixture.
Meanwhile, Western District were 0/83 at stumps on day one against ANU, in a strong position chase down their opponents 194.
Player Coach Blake Dean continued his strong form, finishing the day on 57 alongside opening partner Nicholas Broes, who is not out on 21.
Scott Murn had a day out with the ball for Wests, taking 6 for 44 off 19 overs.
