The problem is, that habit is conceding goals in the opening 15 minutes.
They did it again against West Canberra Wanderers, but they managed to salvage a 1-all draw through a 17-year-old's maiden goal for the club at Kambah on Sunday.
The draw, combined with Monaro beating Gungahlin United 3-2 to earn their first win of the men's premier league season, meant Tuggeranong slipped to last on the ladder.
West Canberra find themselves at the other end of the table, sitting equal top with Belconnen United.
They took an early lead, with Chilean import Marco Alcazar scoring his second goal in two weeks, with the visitors pouncing on a gift from United, who turned the ball over in defence.
Alcazar accepted the present with a clinical finish from a tight angle in the eighth minute.
But Tuggeranong were able to hit back before half-time to level the score.
Young defender Harrison Buesnel finished off some header ping pong following a United corner two minutes before the break.
Neither side was able to break the deadlock in the second half.
The positive for Tuggeranong coach Mitch Stevens was the performance of his two 17-year-old defenders, with Buesnel opening his United account and Tarisayi Mbogo making his senior debut.
The negative was another bad start.
"Unfortunately it was a little bit of the same old, same old for us now," Stevens said.
"We've got a really nasty habit of conceding goals in that first 15 minutes and we managed to do it again.
"In terms of starting to collect wins we're going to have to eliminate that problematic start and if we can do that we've seen already we've had wonderful second-half performances."
Alcazar has quickly made an impact at his new club, after coming across from his native Chile at the start of the year.
The Cooma Tigers, who thrashed Canberra Olympic 5-0, traditionally was the team with South American links.
Now the Wanderers have some Latin American flavour of their own.
"I was a little bit disappointed we didn't get the full three points, but we ran out of time," Wanderers coach Ulisses da Silva said.
"It was disappointing that we weren't able to convert some of the opportunities we created in the second half."
