StoryFest at the coast
StoryFest 2021 showcases more than 40 artists across 30 events in a line-up that promises to engage and entertain audiences keen to get out and support Australian artists. StoryFest patron and international bestselling author Markus Zusak will deliver the opening night address. Tanya Plibersek will be in conversation with Jane Caro, Wendy Harmer will lead a debate on freedom of speech and actor John Bell will address leadership and his book Some Achieve Greatness. There is also a schools program, a number of workshops and other events over the weekend of June 18-20 at venues in Milton, Mollymook and Ulladulla. Emerging Writers' Incubator
SBS, in partnership with Screen Australia and state and territory film agencies, has launched the Emerging Writers' Incubator: a new initiative to support the development of underrepresented fiction writing talent in the Australian screen sector. Each year for the next three years, six successful candidates ("selected writers") will be employed for 12 months in production companies acclaimed for their delivery of Australian drama from around the country, with placements commencing from July 2021. Book launch
May 22: The picture book Dr Ouchy and Nurse Piggy: Baby Shark's Troublesome Tooth Fiasco - by Canberra surgeon Tetyana Kelly with illustrations by Cat Soper - will be launched on May 22 at Civic Pub at 3pm.

ACU Prize for Poetry
Entries are now open for the 2021 Australian Catholic University (ACU) Prize for Poetry, with a first prize of $10,000. The theme for 2021 is "resilience", reflecting on Jaeda DeWalt's supposition, "When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience", and Sharon Salzberg's thesis, "Resilience is based on compassion for ourselves as well as compassion for others."
