The 29-year-old woman, who was the front seat passenger in the black Toyota Hilux, is still in hospital receiving treatment more than five months later.

NSW Police revealed her plight on Monday as officers announced that the driver, a 28-year-old woman who suffered minor injuries in the crash, had been charged with seven offences including drink- and drug-driving.

In a statement, police said the crash happened in Primrose Valley, about 30km south-east of Queanbeyan, as the ute travelled north on Captains Flat Road about 10pm on January 9.

The amputee was ejected from the vehicle and suffered leg and internal injuries, according to investigators.

A second passenger, a 37-year-old man, did not require treatment at the scene but later attended Canberra Hospital with fractured ribs.

Following inquiries, officers from the Crash Investigation Unit arrested the driver at a home in Rossi, about 33km south-east of Queanbeyan, just before 9.30am on Monday.

She was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, causing bodily harm by wilful neglect in charge of a motor vehicle, two counts of negligent driving, drink-driving, altering the concentration of alcohol in her blood prior to being tested, and drug-driving.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on July 12.
