Adorable Bella fell four storeys from an apartment building in Civic on the weekend - and landed straight on a cafe table below.
And she survived.
The plucky pooch fell from a fourth-floor common garden area at the apartment complex on the corner of Marcus Clarke Street and Kendall Lane on Saturday and landed straight on to a table at New Acton's Mocan and Green Grout Cafe below.
Bella had been playing in the apartment's garden on the fourth floor when she somehow slipped through a small hole in the fence. That hole has since been fixed, we are told.
She then fell through a solid awning first, which broke her fall, landing on the table, which was not attended by any customers.
It was a stroke of luck she did not hit any beams in the awning, falling through the canopy, which was nevertheless solid.
She also was lucky not to hit anyone on the way down, with the table in an area where customers congregate to collect their coffee.
Cafe co-owner David Alcorn said it was a shock to everyone but he was glad Bella was on the road to recovery.
"It was Saturday, literally the busiest part of the day, probably about 11.30am and there were people out here waiting for takeaway coffee," he said.
"She's come down and hit the awning and basically made a really big noise and fallen up against the window. There were quite a few big, loud reactions from people.
"I was actually inside on the till, so I came outside and there were lots of people trying to do something. I just came out and said, 'You ring the number on the collar', 'You ring the RSPCA, everyone just step back'."
"At the time, Bella was unconscious, so I assumed the worst. The owners came down really quick. I assume they had rung a vet and then they took her away.
"The next thing we know we get a call from the owners that she's got a broken leg and broken pelvis. And we got a photograph of her in the hospital looking all rattled and shaken, but alive."
Bella left a dog-sized hole in the awning.
"To be honest, I think the awning is the difference between her being around and not being around," David said.
"We actually made those awnings and the top of is a building material which is actually like a concrete. I think if it was a timber, it wouldn't have broken. It actually shattered, which is also what made such a horrendous noise."
The cafe took to Instagram to give their customers an update on Bella, who has come out of the ordeal a little worse for wear, but thankfully, with no spinal or brain injuries.
"For all the customers who were there and have been calling in - here she is! She is going to be just fine!" the cafe posted.
"A broken leg and a couple of little fractures in her pelvis. But no spinal injuries, no brain damage. It's an absolute miracle.
"Bella's parents send a big thank you to everyone who was there and helped and to all the people who have called after her."
Bella's owners were, understandably, extremely upset seeing their dog fall so injured.
"We know them, they're regular customers," he said.
"The were obviously traumatised but they dealt with it all pretty quickly. Scooped her up and got her to care."
After vet treatment, we're sure she will be getting some extra cuddles and treats.
