But Dave Rennie and his coaching staff have developed a simple gameplan to scale what no Wallabies side has managed to do in 35 years in Saturday's Bledisloe Cup opener.
"They've got quality players but the big thing is they're human beings," Rennie's assistant Dan McKellar said.
"You put them under pressure. . .they can feel that stress, that pressure and anxiety and you can cash in off the back of it."
Not a single member of the Wallabies' playing squad was born the last time Australia won in Auckland - such is the weight of history facing Rennie's side this weekend.
Saturday's clash will be the first of two Tests at the seemingly impenetrable Auckland fortress. The teams square off again on August 14 at Eden Park before flying back to Australia for the third Test in Perth.
If the Wallabies can create history in New Zealand over the next fortnight, that Perth Test will potentially be the Bledisloe Cup decider.
"We've got a whole lot of respect for them, there's quality across the park to be honest," McKellar said.
"They're one of the best teams in the world, they'll challenge at set piece, like any New Zealand side they'll challenge off turnover attack and from an unstructured scenario. We need to make sure that we defend really well.
"We've focused on what we've learned out of the French series within our own game, and understand that we've got to front up in a couple of key areas to win our first game at Eden Park in a fair period of time."

The Wallabies flew to New Zealand last week ahead of this weekend's Bledisloe Cup opener.
Veteran Quade Cooper was a surprise inclusion in Rennie's squad, and may well be a shock selection on the bench as back up to young Brumbies fly half Noah Lolesio.
"I've known Quade a long time and just, you can see he's really matured and he's here to add value wherever he can and a lot of that value has been in the background working with younger players," McKellar said.
"He hasn't held back with voicing his opinions at times. But he's also knuckled down and he's working hard and challenging for selection.
"He's been around a long time. Noah [Lolesio] will take a lot out of spending time with a player of Quade's quality and his experience.
"He's played a lot of Test matches, he's played a lot of times against the All Blacks in New Zealand, knows the environment that we're about to face."
