What we all need is a delivery of dessert to perk us up.
Here are some of Canberra's sweetest home-delivery options.
Spilt Milk Bar
The cute little van from Spilt Milk is kind of like an upmarket Mr Whippy truck, delivering their quality product to your door. Spilt Milk's "cow to cone" philosophy means there's no artificial anything in their ice creams, gelato and sorbet. Flavours instore now include vanilla brownie, salted caramel, peanut butter and chocolate chip as well as the iconic Spilt Milk which is plain milk gelato. A few package deals available, too. The Full Monty includes a litre of your favourite flavour, six cones and a serve of their salted pretzel crunch and warm chocolate topping. Delivering to selected suburbs from Dickson.
Patissez
The Sweet Explosion brunch box from the Manuka cafe will liven up a weekend morning. A mixture of donuts and cookies and a few sweeteners to delight. Think creme brulee doughnuts, Nutella cookies, and a few marshmallows for good measure. Pre-ordering is required.
Get Crackin'
From creme brulee to brownie slabs. Take a 21x15cm aluminium tray and fill it with chocolatey goodness. The richest, gooiest brownie, with add-ins from Mars Bars to Caramello koalas, to Reeses peanut butter cups and Oreos. Not all at once, mind you ... although perhaps you could place a special order. For $25, might be the best sugar rush per dollar value in town.
Dough it Yourself
I wonder if there's any requirement to actually cook the delicious cookie dough from Antonia Banos before you eat it? (She advises it's not edible raw for the record, but we've all done it.) Flavours include chocolate chip, white chocolate chip, white chocolate and macadamia, peanut butter and Lotus Biscoff. Comes in 500g rolls, with easy instructions. And you can freeze it for up to three months.
The Sugar Deli
A weekly changing menu of deliciousness, baked fresh daily by a team of dessert aficionados and delivered on-demand, to your door. Treats from their weekly menu can be ordered right up to 1.30pm on the day of delivery (unless treats run out, so get in quick). From macarons, to brownies and vanilla slices, there's something for every sweet tooth.
Le Bon Melange
This Gungahlin cafe has been doing a roaring trade with their treat boxes delivered to the greater Gungahlin area. With a mix of cinnamon buns, pastries, croissants and cinnamon doughnuts, it's almost as good as heading down to the cafe. (Which is still open for takeaway.)
Sweet Bones Bakery
This Braddon cafe is doing treat boxes for weekend delivery which include an assortment of sweetness, from cookies, to muffins and raw slices. All vegan of course. Big cakes for special occasions are also available with pre-ordering essential. (And check out the taco box too.)
Sweetzee Creations
Specialising in customised cakes, cupcakes and cookies, this local, family-run business might be just what you need if there's a special celebration in lockdown. Check out the cupcakes.
