Olivia - a year seven student at Radford College - was completely overwhelmed when Carrie Bickmore wore a pair of her polymer clay earrings on The Project recently.

The young girl started her range, Ola Sea Jewellery, last year during lockdown as a way to keep busy at home.

"It relaxes me," she said.

The syndicated HIT radio show hosted by Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little was doing a segment on young achievers aged under 14. Olivia's mum Natalie put her daughter forward as a potential guest.

Olivia was invited to speak about her jewellery with Carrie and Tommy on the radio show.

They then gave her $1000 to help with her business, including developing a website. But Carrie had one more huge surprise for Olivia.

"Hey Olivia," Carrie began. "I've been thinking, you know on The Project how each night I get to wear some cool jewellery and a cool outfit?

"Well, I'm always looking for new, up-and-coming Aussie artists to wear on The Project and I have now seen your earrings and I am going to wear a pair of your earrings on The Project."

It was a bit of a dream come true.

"I was really happy," Olivia said.

Mum Natalie was given the heads-up when Carrie would wear the earrings on The Project, but Olivia had no idea. That's how her mum captured her daughter's delighted reaction as she watched the night Carrie appeared wearing her "geometric" earrings.

"I was hoping she'd wear those ones because they are very her," Olivia said.

"I think she's got a very versatile style. She's worn red on the show, yellow, pretty much every colour. The earrings just went really well with her outfit. People call them the 'Carrie' earrings now."

The name of the jewellery range is a nod to the fact Olivia had trouble pronouncing her name as a child so it became "Ola". And "Sea" because she loves anything to do with the ocean.

The earrings are available via Instagram - ola_sea_jewellery - with a website hopefully just down the track.
