Chervon's EGO Power+ Cordless Brushless Hedge Trimmer, which sells for $329 at Mitre 10, may have a defective rear trigger switch that could cause the trimmer to "activate unexpectedly", Product Safety Australia said.
"The rear trigger switch can fail to rebound after being pressed," the recall said.
"There is a risk of serious injury including laceration if the hedge trimmer activates unexpectedly."
The hedge trimmer was sold individually or as part of a set between August 1, 2018 and March 31, 2020 through a number of stores.
Trade Tools, Total Tools, Sydney Tools, Mitre 10, Home Timber and Hardware, Stratco and independent stores sold the trimmer between those dates.
"Stop using the recalled hedge trimmer immediately," the Product Safety Australia recall said.
"Consumers should contact Chervon for a free repair of the rear trigger switch."
The recall advises customers to organise the repair through the following channels:
- Register details via the EGO recall portal
- Phone Chervon on 1300 000 346 (select option 3) 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
- Email support@egopowerplus.com.au
