It's Friday and in the words of that old club song from my childhood: "I can't wait for the weekend to begin". But before it's quitting time, Friday is backing a high chance of showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day with a top of 26 degrees.

Belconnen's height limits have been topped up to 28 storeys, with the Geocon's $1 billion Republic development set to be Canberra's tallest building.
But the restrictions could have been even looser after developers pushes for increased heigh limits last year.
