The latest batch of photo entries capture the essence of Summer. One depicts two swimmers, preparing to dive into Mereweather Ocean Baths near Newcastle beneath a full moon.
Another shows a girl relaxing in the pool, curled up on a rubber tube with goggles, flippers, and an underwater watch.
Spence resident Judith Deland sent in a striking shot, depicting two people and a dog silhouetted against the warm colours of a sunset in the Victorian alps.
The competition gives budding photographers the chance to have their favourite shots published, with prizemoney for winners.
First prize is $500, second $300, and third $200.
For your opportunity to win, all you have to do is snap one of those magic summer moments and send it to The Canberra Times.
A selection of the entries will be published in the newspaper and on canberratimes.com.au throughout the summer holidays.
Photographers must send their photos, attached as JPEG files, to photocomp@canberratimes.com.au. The images must be a minimum of 150Kb and a maximum of 1Mb.
There is a maximum limit of three photos per person, and entrants should include their name, address, phone number and a brief description of their shots.
The competition closes at 4pm on January 20.
CLARIFICATION: The caption under a picture taken at the National Gallery's Sculpture Garden and published on Tuesday, January 8, wrongly named Monika Short as the photographer. The image was submitted by Geoffrey Ballard.
