Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane all have their own - could it finally be the ACT's turn?
Custom Monopoly board maker Winning Moves is launching a Gold Coast edition this October, and immediately after will return to the drawing board to decide which Australian city deserves to be immortalised in the classic property-buying game.
Winning Moves spokesman Marc Dragicevic says Canberra will be up against "basically the rest of Australia" in consideration, but locals could definitely have an impact on the decision.
"It will definitely be based on the popularity and the amount of feedback we get," Dragicevic says.
"We love getting inundated with calls and messages that say, 'Our city should be next' and I would certainly encourage Canberrans to be very vocal online about wanting their own [Monopoly] board."
And it gets better. If we're successful enough to get an ACT edition off the ground, Canberrans will also have a say on who scores a tile on the board and who doesn't. The aim is for the custom edition to be a "truly local board with a local feel", Dragicevic says, a game that Canberrans want to play, not one made for international tourists.
That means in addition to obvious inclusions like the Australian War Memorial and Parliament House, our much-loved local venues and destinations - like Lonsdale Street, Fyshwick Markets and EPIC - could get a run.
"We'll do some research and speak to the ACT government and the city's tourism officers but what we really want to know is which areas, which destinations and which landmark the locals would like to see going on the board," he says.
"From there, a small team from Winning Moves will visit the area, talk to local people, talk to local businesses, see the sights ... once all that information is collated we come up with a certain amount of spots and narrow it down from there."
But what about our truly iconic institutions, like Mooseheads Pub and Nightclub?
Dragicevic, who lived in Canberra for a six-month stint a few years ago, laughs.
"Yes, I remember getting my feet stuck to the ground there," he recalls.
"But absolutely, it's public demand - generally when you talk about Canberra, Mooseheads comes up in conversation. So I can imagine they would be gunning for a square."
