A new organisational structure will see employees in both sectors of the Bruce hospital report to a single chief executive, rather than separate bosses.

The overhaul comes as part of similar changes taking place at other Calvary-owned facilities in both New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

The management changes at Calvary Hospital in Canberra will come into effect on September 3, with an eight-week transition period taking place.

The changes to management isn't expected to impact upon patient services at the hospital, with public patients not being treated at the private hospital or vice versa.

Calvary's deputy chief executive officer Matt Hanrahan said Calvary funding from the ACT government won't go towards operations in the private hospital.

"Territory funding will only be used for public health and hospital services. The governance, accountability and transparency of funding arrangements with the ACT government will be maintained," Mr Hanrahan said.

"Public health and hospital services at Calvary Public Hospital Bruce, including the emergency department service, will be unaffected."

Palliative care service Clare Holland House, owned by Calvary, will also be unaffected by the management changes.

While Calvary staff in the ACT will operate under a single chief executive, both the public and private hospital will still have their own executives.

Reporting for the Calvary Haydon Retirement Community and Calvary's Community Care operations will be merged, with staff reporting to a national director.

Mr Hanrahan said the merging of public and private staff will lead to better integration.

"[This is] an opportunity for Calvary to implement a contemporary model of multi-service delivery that addresses patients' and clients' needs and harness the collective capability of Calvary's people and resources," Mr Hanrahan said.

"In the ACT, Calvary is in the unique position of offering the full spectrum of health care services operating in close proximity to each other."

An ACT Health spokeswoman said management changes at Calvary Hospital aren't expected to change any pre-existing arrangements with the government department.

"ACT Health funds Calvary Public Hospital Bruce to provide public health services and this is governed by an annual performance plan and regular contract management meetings," the spokeswoman said.

Acting health minister Shane Rattenbury said the hospital's executive structure is a matter for Calvary staff.

"The ACT government is committed to working with Calvary Hospital to deliver quality health services to the people of Canberra," Mr Rattenbury said.
