Well, now you can hire them in Canberra.
Love Letters CBR is a new, homegrown venture from Briony Young who is otherwise the dynamic business and marketing manager at the Canberra Racing Club.
She can hire out numbers, letters and symbols up to 1.8 metres high to add that wow factor to any special occasion.
Briony started the business in May and things are gearing up for the bridal and Christmas party seasons.
"The reason I started it is I had a friend who got married and paid an enormous amount to hire the letters from Sydney," she said.
"I thought, 'I could do that and I'm going to do that'."
Some locals have already been quick to use them, including law firm Maliganis Edwards Johnson which displayed an illuminated #MEJ for an event at Old Parliament House.
"It's a good way for people to get their hashtag out there," Briony said.
The Canberra Moon Festival also used the letters at its launch this week.
Now calling herself Letter Head Honcho - as in letterhead, gettit? - Briony says she can pretty much spell out anything and put anything up in lights, getting each structure made locally.
And where does she keep the letters?
"In my garage," she said, with a laugh. "My poor car has been kicked out."
And here's a great video of the letters at work in a cracking performance by Play - The Dance Agency, based at Mitchell.
