A 34-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday morning after a five-hour incident at a petrol station in Woden.

The incident forced police to close Melrose Drive in both directions between Hindmarsh Drive and Eggleston Crescent for several hours.
Police advised people to avoid the area before the roads were reopened about 7.30am.

ACT Policing - including a team of specialist negotiators - were called to a BP station on Melrose Drive, Philip, about 2.15am after a man threatened self-harm.
The man surrendered to police about 7.15am, and was taken into custody.
As of Monday afternoon, no charges had been laid.
