With the bones of the shelters now in place, Canberra Metro will soon begin outfitting the stops with weather shields, furniture and infrastructure for passenger information.
The glass weather shields feature a design by local artist, Hannah Quinlivan, while there will also be digital information displays and hearing induction loops.
A Transport Canberra spokeswoman described the stops as: "functional, modern, and considered specifically for our Canberra environment".
"The light rail stops will provide comfortable, functional and attractive places for everyone using the light rail system," she said.
"The roof design will provide a sense of warmth and generosity of space which responds to Canberra's seasons.
"A large canopy area will provide shade during our summer months, while skylights bring in light that will be appreciated on Canberra's crisp sunny winter days, with screens providing shelter when it's wet and windy."
The first stage of Canberra's light rail is on track to be finished late this year, with construction intensifying towards the city centre.
Transport Canberra's latest annual report shows more than two million hours had been worked on the project by Canberra Metro, Transport Canberra and the Independent Certifier as of June this year.
Work has also begun on the Northbourne verge project, which is reclaiming part of the road near the Melbourne and Sydney Buildings for public use.
A lane is closed in each direction, causing bottlenecks on Northbourne Avenue. The construction work will continue until the end of the year.
"Unique and superior design elements will be incorporated into the Alinga Street stop and Northbourne Plaza," the Transport Canberra spokeswoman said.
"Design elements incorporated into the Alinga Street Terminus include changes to canopy design, surface finishes and stop seating. The Alinga Street Terminus and Northbourne Plaza will also feature lighting to highlight urban design features, including in-ground lighting, additional lighting for the terminus, and broader precinct generally."
