The ex-army man has spent a lot of time at The Den gym in Deakin, if his Instagram posts pre-MAFS are anything to go by.
The 41-year-old also posted a nice shot beside Lake Burley Griffin, apparently before his move to Melbourne. He has been matched with single mother Ning on the show.
Mick Mackell from The Den said he had known Mark for four or five years and that he was a good bloke, always ready for a laugh.
"I've always found him to be amazingly pleasant. He was great in the gym,'' Mick said.
"He was the kind of bloke who got on with everyone, very jovial. He is one of those people who is consistently nice all the time, which is pretty rare.
"I guess that's been reflected in the episodes of the show I've seen and that he comes across quite nicely.''
