Monaro MP John Barilaro has announced $40 million to be shared equally between safety improvement projects on the Kings and Monaro Highways if the NSW Coalition government is re-elected later this month.

The money would be for the construction of overtaking lanes, wider shoulders and the installation of safety barriers in places identified by NSW Roads and Maritime Services.
In 2017, a $17.9 million project straightened 4.1 kilometres of the Kings Highway about 20 kilometres south east of Braidwood.
Road resurfacing work was completed and guard rails installed in 2015 as part of another safety improvement initiative.
Mr Barilaro said on Tuesday his government had spent more than $100 million on the two roads in the past eight years.
"Improvements to our highways not only increase safety for local commuters, but are a boost to the important tourism economy of our region," he said.
There were no fatalities on the Kings Highway in the last holiday period between Christmas and New Year's Day, but 10 people have been killed on the notoriously dangerous road since 2013.
The NSW election will be held on Saturday, March 23.
