Liberal National Party vice-president David Hutchinson has been chosen to take on the mantle of acting president at a meeting of the state executive.

LNP president Gary Spence last week announced he would resign his position, blaming Labor's property developer donation laws.
Mr Spence said the laws, which prohibit donations from property developers at a state and local government level, would prevent him from fundraising in the lead-up to next year's federal election.
"The job of an LNP president is to raise funds to fight the incoming election, and I just simply cannot afford the risk of being prosecuted and going to jail," he said.
The LNP is challenging those laws in the High Court but last week delivered advice that the case would not be finalised until after the next federal election, which could be held in May 2019.
Mr Hutchinson, who was previously the LNP's metropolitan vice-president, wrote to members after the vote on Tuesday night to say it was a tremendous honour to be elected to the role.
"I know that with your support and the support of vice-president Cameron O'Neil and the state executive, we can navigate the challenging times ahead as we face one of the most critical federal elections that many of us will be able to remember," he wrote.
Mr Hutchinson said he had been an active member of the party for 19 years, and had served as a branch secretary, SEC chairman, regional chairman and party vice-president.
"Like all of you, I have done the hard work and I've also made the hard decisions," he said.
"What this means is that as acting president I will never ask any member to do anything that I myself have not done or will not be doing right alongside you."
Early in 2019, Mr Hutchinson said he would undertake a statewide tour of party units to hear from members about how the LNP could rise to the challenges it faced and continue to grow its membership.
Mr Hutchinson said the party owed an immense debt of gratitude to Mr Spence, his wife Sabrina and their family.
Mr Hutchinson will serve as acting president until after the federal poll.
Some insiders had suggested Mr Spence may have decided to quit the unpaid role due to internal discontent over boundaries between party and parliamentary matters, such as his speech that slammed three sitting MPs for using their conscience votes on the contentious abortion issue.
However, Mr Spence last week denied there was any link.
"The gratifying thing after my speech is that the support from our party members has been overwhelmingly strong," he said.
"The only thing that is relevant here, and the only thing on my mind in making this decision, is that the Labor Party have instituted what is a financial gerrymander and made it impossible for me to do my job in the lead-up to the next federal election."
Mr Spence also said he had no regrets over his actions in supporting Peter Dutton during the federal leadership spill earlier this year.
He will remain on the state executive as immediate past president, replacing Bruce McIver.
Some members had agitated in support of party elder Lawrence Springborg, who quit at the state election.
However, Mr Springborg reportedly told confidantes he did not want the job.
On Monday, LNP deputy leader Tim Mander said Mr Springborg was a "real hero" of the party.
"Someone like Lawrence would be fantastic in this position," he said.
"I'm not sure whether Lawrence is interested or not but, look, there are many different candidates, I'm sure, who could do a great job."
