Police have charged two men with attempted murder after a police officer was allegedly hit by a car Monday morning.

A 26-year-old Brighton man and a 35-year-old Brighton man have both been charged with one count of attempted murder and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The 35-year-old is due to appear at the Prine Rivers Magistrates Court on Tuesday and the other man will reappear at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on October 31.
The injured officer remains in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Brisbane and Women's hospital.
EARLIER: A police officer is in a serious condition after he was allegedly hit and carried on a stolen car's bonnet for about 30 metres in Brisbane's north overnight.
Police were driving on Gympie Road at 12.20am when they saw a red 2012 BMW with a home-made number plate.
The BMW turned into Bouchard Street in Chermside and stopped, but when a male senior constable approached the car on foot, the car struck him.
He was carried about 30 metres before he fell off and the car was driven away.
The car was found abandoned on Nystrom Street a short time later, where police cordoned off the area and found one man about 1am and another man at 2.38am in the area.
Police allege the BMW was stolen from a Wilston residence on Wednesday, August 29.
The senior constable was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, where he remained in a serious condition.
The two men were assisting police with their inquiries.
