Construction to improve paths and crossings in the precinct bordered by Giles, Kennedy, Eyre and Jardine Streets will start in late May, according to a leaflet circulated to business owners and residents.
The works include:
- Building a coloured, raised platform at the intersection of Eyre Street and Jardine Street with a pedestrian crossing on each of its three approaches;
- Constructing a 2.5 metre wide concrete path on Eyre Street from Wentworth Avenue to the Kingston Group Centre;
- Installing a pedestrian crossing and better lighting at the intersection of Giles and Jardine Streets;
- Widening paths throughout the centre;
- Installing wayfinding signage to help visitors navigate their way to the group centre.
Some intersections and footpaths will be closed during the works, with detours in place.
Certain Eyre Street residents might also be temporarily unable to access their own driveways during the works.
